Edouard Dubus. (L'Art d'envoûter, Figaro du 29 Février 1893)

PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD [PEMF]: THE MECHANISM OF HEALING

PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD [PEMF]: THE MECHANISM OF HEALING

In every single living cell of our bodies there is a potential difference between the two sides of the membrane surrounding the cell. There is a difference between the concentrations of charged ions inside the cell and the extracellular space. This difference in concentration is maintained by the constant activity of ion channels and pumps in the membrane. This phenomenon is called physiological equilibrium or homeostasis.
In response to cellular injury (through trauma or illness) these potentials change, upsetting the equilibrium, and positively charged sodium ions flow into the cell while negatively charged trace elements, water and proteins flow out of the cell. Therefore water accumulates in the extracellular space resulting in swelling or edema.

The primary target of the biological effects of PEMF is the cell membrane:
the modification of receptor and channel activities1 restores the normal function of the damaged cells. The magnetic field is therefore capable of restoring equilibrium. PEMF influences the permeability of the membrane by changing the number and functions of membrane receptors2. By contributing to the restoration of normal potentials, PEMF promotes wound healing and reduces swelling.

Pulsed magnetic field at a frequency of 1 to 5 Hz acts as a vasoconstrictor, similarly to a cold compress. However, the opposite (vasodilator!) effects can be achieved above 6 Hz.

Pain propagates in the form of electric signals traveling through the body. (...) Based on hundreds of studies the most effective results are produced by low frequency (below 100 Hz) pulsed electromagnetic fields.

With their help, damaged tissues can begin to recover. There are no side effects if the device is used at the correct frequency. The beneficial effect of the magnetic field is non-specific, it regenerates and heals all types of cells and tissues, therefore phenomenal results are seen in many diseases (decreased inflammation and pain relief = recovery).

Our modern world continually bombards our bodies with toxins, and an unhealthy diet (high fat, high cholesterol foods, sugary drinks, etc.) is harmful to blood vessels. Inadequate circulation attenuates the natural healing ability of the body. If the body could supply sufficient oxygen and nutrients (via blood circulation) to the affected area, most injuries would heal spontaneously.
Magnet therapy can remedy this problem by enhancing circulation – and thus oxygen and nutrient supply – and expediting regeneration. Circulation serves to fulfill one of the basic requirements of regeneration: it removes harmful substances from the body. Clogged capillaries reopen. As a result of these processes, sight, hearing, and renal and hepatic function improve, among others.
In most cases conventional medicine treats the symptoms as opposed to the cause of disease. As is the case with traditional methods, pulsed magnetic therapy returns the body to its basic state so self-healing processes are activated, and it can prevent disease. With existing conditions, many patients can curtail their pharmacological therapy, or in some cases even eliminate it (under medical supervision).
In this way, harmful side effects can be avoided. What is more, there are recorded cases when pharmacological therapy failed but pulsed magnetic therapy resolved the problem (see chapter “Miraculous” recoveries due to pulsed magnetic therapy [PEMF]). In addition to treating diseases, pulsed magnetic therapy has a significant role in general health maintenance and improving fitness. Famous athletes reach their maximum potential with the help of PEMF therapy.

Frequency ranges :
Low frequencies: 1-10 Hz
Effects: analgesic, muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory (during the daytime: 7-8 Hz, in the evening: 3 Hz is recommended).
Intermediate frequencies: 10-15 Hz
Effects: anti-inflammatory, vasodilation (in case of chronic and degenerative
conditions), improves blood and lymphatic circulation, reduces swelling.
High frequencies: up to 25 Hz
Effects: promotes bone healing. Healing after accidents, burns and acute
illness, also detoxifies.
Frequencies above 25 Hz (26-81 Hz) – medical applications
More robust support of recovery. Before using high frequencies, please consult a physician specializing in pulsed magnetic therapy.

Boosting the immune system :
Treatment is carried out once daily (in the morning) for 10 minutes at 20 Hz, placing the pad over the navel. It boosts the immune system and increases energy levels.

Pulsed Magnetic Therapy : introduction

Pulsed Magnetic Therapy : introduction

The beneficial effects of Earth's magnetic field are taken for granted by most of us, and we never even think about what life would be like to be without them. Astronauts who leave the magnetic field of our planet feel weak and fatigued, and the unfortunate truth is that even those of us who never leave the Earth have less and less of a connection to it. The modern world is filled with electrosmog (the harmful and unnatural electromagnetic frequencies of computers and mobile phones): natural magnetism is attenuated or masked
by electrical, radio and radar equipment, and consequently our bodies produce symptoms of this deficiency. Our environment is full of concrete, steel, asphalt, and cars: all these separate us from Nature and deprive us of the necessary dose of the natural vitalizing energy of the Earth. Similar to sunlight, water, air and gravitation, the magnetic field is another basic biological component of our survival. Exposure to natural energy fields is a requirement of human life. These energy fields interact with our cells, and are necessary
for homeostasis (the dynamic balance of our internal environment) and maintaining our bodies at an optimal level. According to the published literature on clinical studies, pharmacological therapy can be curtailed or in some cases even eliminated (but naturally only under medical supervision)! Magnetic therapy should be a part of everyday life, because our bodies are hugely deficient. They must be supplemented, otherwise sooner or later all of us show symptoms of deficiency – the best case scenario is lack of stamina. Fatigue, lethargy and depression are the first symptoms of various diseases. As a result of pulsed magnetic therapy fatigue is alleviated and the body attains a higher energy level, potentially improving well-being and achieving more efficient healing. The commonly used acronym for pulsed electromagnetic field is PEMF. This is identical in meaning to the commonly used expression “magnetic (field) therapy”, and to the acronym IMRS (intelligent magnetic resonance stimulation system), which refers to the established name of new generation devices. It must be noted that at least 6 to 8 weeks of continuous daily therapy is necessary for effective treatment. This drug- and painfree therapeutic solution belongs to the branch of alternative, complementary medicine.

Magnet therapy has been used in medicine since very early times. Ancient peoples knew long ago what to use. In 2000 B.C. the Chinese used magnetic stones to assist in restoring balance to the body. The Greek physician Galen described the cleansing effect of magnetism in 200 B.C. in his book entitled De Simplicum Medicamentorum Temperamentis Ac Facultatibus. Cleopatra wore a small magnet on her forehead to maintain her beauty. During the Middle Ages the magnetic compasses of the Vikings were used to treat the body. The German physician Hahnemann (the discoverer of homeopathy) was convinced of the healing power of magnets. The electromagnet was patented by the English scientist William Sturgeon in 1825. In 1831 the American scientist Joseph Henry devised a strong electromagnet made using multiple layers of insulated cables. The works of Faraday and Maxwell include theoretical explanations of the effects of electromagnetic fields. Occasional medical use of electromagnets can also be dated to this time, but the true development of magnetic therapy began only after World War II. In 1959 it was discovered that changes in the magnetic field stimulate frog skeletal muscle (Kolin et al, 1959). Clinical tests of magnet therapy were performed starting in the 1960s in Czechoslovakia, then Germany and other European countries. In Hungary, the first application (for pain relief in rheumatology) can be dated to the 1970s.

PEMF : Titanium Metal Implants

PEMF : Titanium Metal Implants

We are often asked if it is safe to use PEMF if there are metal implants in the body after a hip or knee replacement or after a fracture repair. Nowadays exclusively medical grade titanium alloys are used for implants including stents, screws, plates, clips, rods, wires, posts etc.

The high strength-to-weight ratio and its corrosion resistance combined with non-toxicity and its ability to avoid corrosion from bodily fluids, titanium has become the metal of choice in medicine.

Titanium is also very durable and long-lasting. When titanium rods, plates and pins are inserted into the body, they can last for decades and in dentistry even longer.

Another benefit of using titanium in medicine is its non-ferromagnetic property, which allows patients with titanium implants to be safely examined with MRI and treated with PEMF.

PEMF therapy, provided it has sufficient intensity, improves quality and speeds up the bonding process to the artificial implant [osseo-integration] and anchors the implant firmly into place.

In conclusion :

The amount of ferromagnetic material in implants is close to zero or non-existent and the high intensity level of pulsed electromagnetic fields will not cause any form of magnetizing or temperature increase of any sort in the implant. (Source)

(Source)

PEMF Therapy for Hair Loss

PEMF Therapy for Hair Loss

How does PEMF Therapy Help with Hair Loss?
Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is a safe, drug-free method that has been proven to offer therapeutic benefits for hair loss. It can enhance the growth and repair of cells involved in hair growth and regeneration.

A double blind, placebo-controlled study investigated men with alopecia to examine the effect of PEMF therapy. Pulsed electromagnetic field was exposed to the head for 12 minutes once a week or twice a week. After 36 weeks of treatment, results found the PEMF treatment both prevented hair loss and promoted hair regrowth without side effects.

PEMF therapy can treat hair thinning and hair loss by sending electromagnetic signals to a target tissue, such as scalp tissue. These electromagnetic signals can modulate biochemical processes, such as prostaglandin levels to stimulate or enhance the growth and proliferation of scalp tissue, thus eliminating hair loss.

Many studies have demonstrated that prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) inhibits hair growth. So inhibiting prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) is the key to promote hair growth, and restoration. The exposure of PEMFs can reduce prostaglandin D2 effectively.

In addition, hormonal change is also a main cause of hair loss. When your metabolism slows down, the thyroid glands can’t produce enough hormones. PEMF therapy can increase metabolism by charging cells and bring them back to normal state. It also allows your body to replicate and produce more normal cells. Once your cells get enough energy, they will work as normal and then improve the balance of your hormones.

Why Choose Big Magic to Prevent Hair Loss and Promote Hair Regrowth?
Big Magic is the first-rate PEMF device, with a special mat to apply the healing magnetic pulses for hair loss.

It works by sending very brief magnetic pulses into areas of your scalp and body. These pulses create a low and completely safe frequency of electrical current in your tissues, giving them more energy to repair damage, reduce prostaglandin D2 and stimulate the growth of hair cells.

Big Magic is absolutely safe to use and has been optimised for long treatments. It gently applies a single, gentle and healing frequency. The frequency exactly copies the natural frequency of the earth, which is called the Schumann resonance.  Unlike other existing PEMF devices which only apply a single unidirectional pulse, Big Magic applies the frequency in one direction for ten minutes and then changes direction for another ten minutes. This means your body maintains equilibrium, and doesn’t become magnetically charged. The waveform produced by Big Magic is also sharper than almost any other PEMF unit. And because of the sharpness, the electromagnetic signal within hair cells will also be stronger.

The mat of Big Magic is flexible and practical. You can place it under the pillowcase for the treatment. Big Magic can run for 8 hours a day or all night. It doesn’t use much power, so you can leave it running all the time if you want, and not worry about electricity bills.

Overall, Big Magic is the best choice for you to treat hair loss safely and effectively. You can get overnight treatment easily and comfortably during sleep. Are you interested in this magic PEMF device? Do you want to experience the benefits of it? Have a try! Any feedback is welcome! (source)

This comparative, controlled study demonstrates the positive biologic effect on hair regrowth of a pulsed electrical field administered according to a regularized treatment schedule over 36 weeks. Mean hair count comparisons within the groups significantly favor the treatment group, which exhibited a 66.1% hair count increase over baseline. The control group increase over baseline was 25.6%. It is notable also that 29 of the 30 treatment subjects (96.7%) exhibited regrowth or no further hair loss. The process is without side effects and untoward reactions. The rationale of this phenomenon is unclear but is considered to be due to an electrophysiologic effect on the quiescent hair follicle, similar to that documented with respect to bone fracture and soft tissue repair enhancement. The electrical pulse may cause increased cell mitosis through calcium influx, involving both the hair follicle sheath and dermal papilla cells. (source :  PubMed)

Do Not Use :
Do not use with a pacemaker. With the permission of your physician, it may be safe to use below the waist.
Do not use in the following situations as safety has not been explored:
•    In the case of pregnancy.
•    In the area of an implanted device such as a shunt, etc.
•    In the area of external or internal bleeding wounds, including menstruation.
•    In the area of a metal implant. The metals may absorb heat and could cause discomfort or a burn. Metal dental fillings are rarely affected.
•     As with all electrical products, do not use near water, when driving a car or when operating heavy equipment.

Cautions :
•    If you experience nerve pain or an increase in nerve pain while using the unit, please discontinue using in the area of pain.
•    Caution is advised when using heat-producing or heat-sensitive ointments, lotions or medications as a skin burn may occur.
•    When in use, please ensure there is proper airflow around the head of the paddle. With normal use, the Hand Paddle will become very warm to hot. If it feels uncomfortable, turn the unit OFF and allow it to cool before resuming use to prevent a skin burn.
•    To prevent damage or loss of information, keep away from homeopathic remedies, credit cards, security cards, audio and video tapes. Also from electronic equipment—computer disks, hearing aids, cell phones, answering machines and others.
•    While this technology is generally considered safe, there exists potential for rare individual reactions that cannot reasonably be foreseen. Therefore, your use of the SOTA Products constitutes your agreement that you are responsible for your decision to use the technology.

(source)

(...) Anyone with implanted electrical devices including pacemakers, cochlear implants, intrathecal pumps, etc, cannot use PEMF Exercise because the magnetic field can disable or shut the devices off.
Persons with active bleeding or hemorrhaging conditions or during heavy menstruation cannot use PEMF.
PEMFs have not been proven safe for pregnant women, so we do not recommend it.
People with organ transplants on immunosuppression should not use PEMF.

Anyone from the very young to the elderly can use PEMF safely and without negative side effects. The only contraindications are for those individuals with pacemakers, insulin pumps, or other electrical implants, and pregnancy. Metal implants in general are fine so long as the area is treated with the recommendations of our doctor.

PEMF exercise uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to bath low energy cells in pure, raw energy. Each cell in your body is actually a capacitor, or battery, which holds a charge. Your entire body is electrical and your cells each need a measurable electrical charge to function optimally. In order to maintain good wellness, cells must be doing their jobs. PEMF exercise supports the body’s natural abilities to optimize balanced body functions – the definition of wellness. (source)

Eyebrow Regrowth : Castor Oil Solution ?

17 Octobre 2021, 08:49am

Publié par Box News

Hair has two distinct structures - first, the follicle itself, which resides in the skin, and second, the shaft, which is what is visible above the scalp. The hair follicle is a tunnel-like segment of the epidermis that extends down into the dermis. The structure contains several layers that all have separate functions. At the base of the follicle is the papilla, which contains capillaries, or tiny blood vessels that nourish the cells. The living part of the hair is the very bottom part surrounding the papilla, called the bulb. The cells of the bulb divide every 23 to 72 hours, remarkably faster than any other cell in the body.

Two sheaths, an inner and outer sheath, surround the follicle. These structures protect and form the growing hair shaft. The inner sheath follows the hair shaft and ends below the opening of a sebaceous (oil) gland, and sometimes an apocrine (scent) gland. The outer sheath continues all the way up to the gland.
A muscle called an erector pili muscle attaches below the gland to a fibrous layer around the outer sheath. When this muscle contracts, it causes the hair to stand up which also causes the sebaceous gland to secrete oil. The sebaceous gland is vital because it produces sebum, which conditions the hair and skin. After puberty our body produces more sebum but as we age we begin to make less sebum. Women have far less sebum production than men do as they age.

Hair Shaft :
The hair shaft is made of a hard protein called keratin and is made in three layers. This protein is actually dead, so the hair that you see is not a living structure. The inner layer is the medulla. The second layer is the cortex and the outer layer is the cuticle. The cortex makes up the majority of the hair shaft. The cuticle is a tightly formed structure made of shingle-like overlapping scales. It is both the cortex and the medulla that holds the hair's pigment, giving it its color.

Hair on the scalp grows about .3 to .4 mm/day or about 6 inches per year. Unlike other mammals, human hair growth and shedding is random and not seasonal or cyclical. At any given time, a random number of hairs will be in one of three stages of growth and shedding: anagen, catagen, and telogen. (Source)

Unfortunately, if the hair isn’t growing back to its pre-tweezed status, “damage to the hair follicle was done,” says Dr. Yates. Basically, frequent removal of hair in the same place can lead to a semi-permanent hair loss condition called traction alopecia. Once that happens, it gets harder to revert to your old brows. (Source)

Pulling out hair can cause damage to the area underneath the hair follicle and potentially halt hair growth for good. "Each hair is connected to a tiny blood vessel—aka derma vessel—that keeps it healthy and allows it to grow back when the hair is removed," explains Jared Bailey, Benefit Cosmetics global brow expert. "Once that vessel is ruptured, however, the hair never returns."

The most common cause for ruptured vessels is incorrectly removing the hair. "To correctly tweeze your eyebrows, you must hold the skin taut with one finger and then tweeze the hair in the direction it's growing, rather than straight out," says Bailey. "It's really important to work with mother nature on this one!" (Source)

Castor Oil :
If you look at the molecular structure of castor oil you'd see that it was a glycerol with a long-chain fatty acid. Fatty acids are very good at nourishing the hair follicles, explains Atlanta-based dermatologist Tiffany L. Clay. The outer layer of the hair shaft is covered in tessellating scale-like structures called cuticles, and when the hair is damaged, those are flayed and flared, which results in both frizz and dullness. "Castor oil can seal and allow the cuticle to lie flatter," continues Clay. Like coconut oil and many other botanical oil, castor oil is very good at this job.

"There is some proposed benefit of castor oil with improving penetration of topicals and even hair growth," says Dhaval G. Bhanusali, a New York City-based dermatologist who specializes in hair loss. "That being said, I don't think the scientific evidence is there to make any sizable claims, particularly for stimulating new hairs."
If you think of your scalp like a garden, you'll agree that keeping a garden well-watered and fertilized will yield cuter tomatoes than one that's dusty and untended. So yes, castor oil will keep your scalp hydrated and nourished, and the resulting hairs will be stronger, shinier, and healthier. But there will not be more of them, and that's an important distinction. (Source)

Castor Oil is the world’s oldest and most valuable herbal remedy. Used by practitioners for thousands of years to improve the health of ancient civilizations, the thick, golden oil is prized for its healing properties. But does it really work?

Thick, golden and syrup-like, castor oil is produced by cold-pressing the seeds of castor bean plants, which can grow to the size of small trees. It is one of the oldest cultivated crops in human history.
In fact, castor seeds have been discovered in ancient Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 BC. The Egyptians were early pioneers of the oil, utilising it for its most well-known use – to nourish and strengthen hair. According to Ebers Papyrus, an Egyptian medical text from 1500 BC, they also used it to protect eyes from irritation. Cleopatra herself is reputed to have used it to brighten the whites of her eyes. So there you have it, Cleopatra’s seal of approval! Not only the Egyptians but throughout history, many cultures have used castor oil to treat a wide range of ailments. It is thought that ricinoleic acid – a fatty acid that makes up almost 90% of castor oil and has been found to fight inflammation – contributes to the oil’s ability to enhance the health of hair follicles and promote their growth. (Source)

Though Castor has gained (relatively) recent popularity as a hair & skincare remedy, the oil has historically always been used for its medicinal benefits. Castor Oil is anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pruritic; meaning it can reduce swelling, pain and itchiness. It is also rich in naturally occurring vitamins and bio-active compounds that have a range of different health care benefits. From soothing pain to healing scars, the ancient ritual of using Castor Oil as a holistic, healing treatment deserves a place in any modern medicine cabinet. Historians have found evidence of Castor Oil in almost every ancient civilisation. The Greeks & Romans used the oil as an ointment and health elixir, and later, in Ayurvedic medicine, the oil came to be known as ‘the secret of beauty’. The Egyptians were early pioneers of the oil, using it first as lamp fuel before realising its healing potential. According to Ebers Papyrus, an Egyptian medical text from 1500 BC, the Egyptians used Castor Oil to protect the eyes from irritation. Cleopatra herself is even reputed to have used it to brighten the whites of her eyes. The oil was so popular at the time, that Castor seeds have even been discovered in ancient tombs dating back to 4000 BC. Our ancestors have been using Castor Oil as a medicinal ointment for millennia and many of its traditional uses have since been backed up with modern science. Including its use to soothe dry eyes, its use as a natural laxative,  and its ability to induce labour.
Cold-pressing is not the fasted method of extraction, but by avoiding excessive heat we are able to maintain as much of the innate healing qualities of the seed without disrupting the molecular make-up of the oil.
Not all Castor Oils are created equal. To reap the ancient, medicinal benefits of Castor, you need high quality, hexane-free, non-GMO oil.  Castor Oil is a nutrient goldmine. It is rich in vitamin E, essential unsaturated fatty acids (like omega-6 & 9) & other bio-active compounds. These components are what give the oil its healing properties. Over 90% of Castor Oil is made up of ricinoleic acid, a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. When applied topically, it can increase circulation & oxygenation in the skin (& tissues beneath) to speed up the cell regeneration process and encourage healing. The oil’s high vitamin E and omega-6 & 9 content support the function of the cells in the body to reduce inflammation, swelling and reduce pain. There is also evidence to suggest Castor Oil has detoxifying qualities and can be used to stimulate our Lymphatic systems to boost immunologic function. Due to its specific molecular makeup, pharmaceutical manufacturers use Castor Oil in a range of different medications. It’s often included in eye drops and is even used as a mix-in to deliver some Cancer medications. Starting as just a small seed in the earth, the reparative oil has endless uses in naturopathic medicine. (Source)

Experts point out that a hair follicle that’s habitually traumatized by tweezing, threading or waxing can die. “Once it’s dead, nothing is going to grow,” said Dr. Audrey Kunin, a dermatologist in Kansas City, Mo.

There are treatments that can help to regrow dead hair follicles and these include:

Minoxidil – this medication is applied regularly to the scalp to reactivate dormant hair follicles and would have to be taken indefinitely.
DHT blockers – excess dihydrotestosterone can block the flow of key hair nutrients, so combining this treatment with minerals and vitamins may kick-start hair growth.
New clinical trials – stimulating hair follicles by cutting the skin and artificially activating growth factors are currently underway.

"Plucking, tweezing, threading, and waxing all pull the hair from the root, and there's only so much trauma each root can take. Repeating these insults to our hair root over time increases the likelihood that some hairs will never regrow, as too much damage has been done to the base of the root where the stem cells live."

So this means if you've been shaping your brows for months, years, or decades—there might not be much you can really do to turn back the clock.

Hair follicle stem cells are long-lived cells in the hair follicle that are present in the skin and produce hair throughout a person's lifetime. They are quiescent, meaning they are normally inactive, but they quickly activate during a new hair cycle, which is when new hair growth occurs.

Dead hair follicles sounds like something that cannot be fixed, but in reality dead hair follicles can be revived naturally. There are many products on the market available to the general public in pill or capsule form that are proprietary blends of natural herbs and minerals that are proven to help regrow and stimulate dead hair follicles.

Ingredients such as saw palmetto and magnesium oxide are known to help stimulate growth in the follicular areas, therefore it makes no difference if hair is in the pore or not.

So for bald spots and areas where no hair is currently present, as long as there was hair in the follicular area before, it can be regrown from dead follicles.

Using over the counter supplements for men and women that offer natural ingredients that the hair is known to need for stimulation will help to grow new hair in the place of dead hair follicles.

L'influence à distance : L'action télépsychique médicatrice.

CHAPITRE XVI

CHAPITRE XVI
